Hull of custom 36m Van der Valk yacht arrives in the Netherlands

12 August 2024 • Written by Dea Jusufi

The hull of the custom, 35.9-metre Jangada has arrived at Van der Valk's facilities in Waalwijk, the Netherlands. This follows the news of the yacht's sale in July 2024.

The owner is a repeat client of the Dutch shipyard who has previously owned a 25 metre and 32 metre under the same name, with the latter nominated for a World Superyacht Award in 2020. The first Jangada was launched in 2015 as one of Van der Valk's earliest raised pilothouse models and has since inspired "a number of notable projects for other clients", according to the shipyard.

All three builds were developed in collaboration with the shipyard and designers Nick Top and Guido de Groot

The upcoming build has been designed to accommodate a growing family as well as "structural changes" to his home berths in the Bay of St Tropez. Higher levels of noise and vibration attenuation have been requested which guided the shipyard to elect a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and extensive sound insulation throughout.

Details are scarce though Jangada's design highlights are said to be its 2.6-metre-high ceilings and jet-stream pool. The latter is positioned on the flybridge and measures 4.5 metres long and 1.5 metres deep.

According to BOATPro, Van der Valk has four yachts on order or under construction. This includes its largest custom superyacht to date, the 39.9-metre Project EVO.
