Following a full-scale rebuild at Monaco Marine between 2020 and 2022, the 42-metre classic Feadship Synthesis 66 has emerged with a fresh look and feel.
The work focused on a complete interior overhaul, with a rebuild and redesign of the interior under the supervision of Lazer and Boutsen Monaco respectively. The exterior also underwent a number of structural and cosmetic changes, and the yacht now features a reconfigured bridge deck complete with a Jacuzzi and a selection of lounge areas.
Built in steel and aluminium, Synthesis 66 was originally delivered in 1982 to an exterior design by De Voogt and now joins the Feadship Heritage Fleet. The rebuild was undertaken at Monaco Marine's La Seyne-Toulon facilities, and she is currently in the final stages of a warranty and maintenance period in preparation for the summer season.
On the main deck amidships, the owner's cabin has been transformed to offer a generous walk-through area — which can be closed off to create an additional cabin if necessary — and en en-suite mosaic shower and double sinks, accessible via a dressing and vanity area.
The lower deck is home to a full-beam VIP cabin with a queen-sized berth, while a further three cabins have a flexible configuration that would work well for family or charter usage. All of the accommodation has benefitted from the refit, with new soft furnishings and lighting across the yacht's interior.
Throughout Synthesis 66 's interior meticulous care has been taken to preserve the original woodwork, ensuring all of her modifications work in harmony with her classic styling. Her main deck saloon is home to large custom sofas and a games table. Forward is a dining saloon, separated by glass panelling, and even further forward is a bar with seating for five.
The yacht can accommodate nine crew in five cabins, and the crew areas have also seen a number of upgrades, including a new crew tender and refreshed crew area.
The bridge deck aft now features a Jacuzzi located aft. Surrounded by sun pads and seating, it is joined by dual lounging areas with expansive sofas and teak occasional chairs. A large formal dining table can be split into two smaller tables for more intimate gatherings or set as one large table for bigger groups while a new bar with seating for four rounds out the space.
Dividing the tabled area and bar is a back-to-back entertainment station featuring large TVs placed on either side. Meanwhile above, the top deck houses gym equipment and a more casual seating area with leather sofas.
A new teak swim platform and stairs to the sundeck are the most recognisable cosmetic changes to Synthesis 66’s exterior and accompany comprehensive renovations to the hull. Fairing, sandblasting and a fresh coat of paint were all completed while she was in the yard.
Synthesis 66 has a range of 3500 nautical miles driven by Caterpillar engines. Her cruising speed is 12 knots with a maximum of 13 knots and she is now in class with Lloyds and MCA compliant.
Synthesis 66 is available to charter with Northrop & Johnson.
