Sturge & Toth announces new 52m Gladius 52 Crossover Performance design

15 November 2024 • Written by Milly Robinson

Design studio Sturge & Toth has announced a new superyacht model known as the Gladius 52 Crossover Performance Yacht. The 52-metre model sits just below the 499GT threshold and is engineered for long-range exploration in both the northern and southern hemispheres.

The yacht has a sporty exterior inspired by the principles of automotive design, including a sharp profile, sweeping chamfers and floor-to-ceiling glass. Exposed tender storage and a "cut-out" lower deck private bay area adds further visual interest to the exterior.

For her interior styling, a contemporary aesthetic is achieved by a suite of neutral colours, with natural light brightening the interior space. At this stage of the process, customisation options are available for her owner.

Accommodation is for up to 14 guests, including four VIP suites, double and twin rooms. The master suite opens into a forward open area with raised ceilings, a skylight and large sofa. The space is also fitted with a Jacuzzi, a side dive board, and a breakfast area. Guests will be able to access the bow’s "dolphin-watching" area here.

Her main deck aft is designed to be multifunctional, with the possibility of converting the raised level from an exterior lounge into a touch and go helipad or an exposed tender storage area. The design proposal also presents an alfresco sky lounge found on the bridge deck, which enables entry to the sundeck above. This space would be fitted with a Jacuzzi, bar, dining and lounge area.

An additional stairway leads up the eagle’s nest near the mast, which offers a sunbed and panoramic views 11 metres above sea level. Other features on board include a wet bar, sauna, gym and fold-down balconies.

The design has a 8.7-metre beam

"With build slots available for delivery in 2027, the Gladius 52’s beauty extends to its efficient build logistics," said Ben Julian Toth, co-founder at Sturge & Toth.

On the technical side, the underwater hull has been optimised to maximise tank space while maintaining a draft of less than 2.5 metres, allowing access to secluded bays. She also comes equipped with stabilisers for a smooth journey whilst underway.

The model is expected to have a top speed of 16 knots and a range of 5,800 nautical miles at 10 knots.
