The fourth unit in the Truly Classic 90 (TC 90) sailing series has been launched and christened Joal. The 27.5-metre hit the water at Shipborn's facilities in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, a new yard developed by the yacht's owner.
Joal is the fourth yacht built to Hoek Design Naval Architects' TC 90 platform. She follows in the footsteps of Kealoha, Atalante and Acadia, launched from Claasen's yard in Zaandam from 2008 to 2017.
This hull is distinguished from her sisterships with a custom, open-plan layout, a new hybrid propulsion package and a hydraulic stern boarding ladder and side boarding platform.
The aluminium hull was built by Bloemsma Aluminiumbouw in Makkum, with outfitting and technical engineering by Shipborn. Key specs include a sail area of 449 square metres and a 6.1-metre beam, while accommodation comprises three guest cabins and a berth for one crew member.
The fifth unit in the Truly Classic 128 series, also by Hoek Design Naval Architects, was delivered late last year. The Dutch designer is also known for the "1900s-styled" motor yacht Far Niente, delivered in summer 2024.
