The 30-metre Southern Wind sailing yacht Acaia has joined the charter market for the first time following an intensive eight-month refit at STP Shipyard in Palma.
Work began in October 2022 and included an extensive interior refresh, an exterior paint job, a new suite of sails and a number of technical and mechanical upgrades. She left the shipyard in June 2023 in time for the summer season and is available to charter with Fraser.
Acaia was delivered in 2008 as the sixth SW100DS model and, while designed predominantly for global cruising, can reach impressive speeds up to 12 knots. Her slender exterior profile is the work of Bruce Farr while her nautical-chic interiors are by Italian studio Nauta Design, both of which have seen an update during her time ashore.
Accommodation is for eight across four cabins, including a full-beam master, a large VIP, and two twin cabins. Wood panels line the majority of the interior, including the main saloon, which is flooded with light, thanks to the large windows and a pair of skylights. All exterior and interior fabrics, linens and upholstery have been updated and replaced with neutral woven fabrics punctuated by plush marine blue cushions.
Out on deck, Acaia boasts plenty of space for lounging, centred around the cockpit, which has a large dining table beneath the shade of a bimini that can be split into two, and freshly upholstered seating with a nautical blue trim. A vast spread of sun pads can be found aft of the cockpit, while a stern platform offers easy access to the water.
Technical elements of the yacht were also addressed during the refit period, including the removal of old batteries and replacement with a smart Lithium battery system. Old electronic systems were replaced along with new steering consoles and her rigging was removed and received a significant overhaul, offering enhanced performance under sail. Her engines were also dismantled and rebuilt to zero hours.
Acaia now enters the charter season with a new tender and a new look, ready to accept bookings for this September, where she will be in Palma and available for the western Med. This winter, Acaia will relocate to the Caribbean where she will have availability including Christmas and New Year. In true global cruiser fashion, she will then head over to French Polynesia in the 2024 summer season.
Acaia is offered for charter with Fraser starting from €55,000 per week.
