Dutch builder Oceanco has lifted the lid on a new 101-metre superyacht concept, named Lily, from its Beyond Custom series. The news was announced at the 2025 Dubai International Boat Show.
The project is in collaboration with its Netherlands-based neighbour Vripack, responsible for the split-level asymmetric bow design with walkaround decks to starboard and a helicopter landing pad portside. Underneath sits ample storage for four tenders and a helicopter. Naval architecture comes from Lateral Naval Architects. Created for "visionaries and trailblazers", the project features large windows, interior glass and boasts a voluminous 5,600GT, resulting in a dramatic visual impact with extended sight lines and unexpected vantage points.
Although radical in its design, the studios have noted the yacht is ready to be built and comes off the back of a similar concept Vripack presented to a client. Vripack designer Marnix J. Hoekstra said: "I know for a fact people are interested in things like this." He envisages the client being someone relatively young and progressive who wants to "leave a mark".
Characterised by its overlapping decks and sculptural architecture – made possible through advanced monocoque construction – the yacht is centered around an open plan which aims to maximise space and flow throughout the yacht. As its name would suggest, the design is based on lilypads and the natural world, which "emerges from the water during the day and closes during the evening", according to Vripack.
Hoekstra explained how viewing the yacht from the aft reveals an wraparound exterior that resembles the "curving leaves of a protective cocoon". He expanded on the aft-focused design to BOAT International, saying it is designed to offer coverage and respite from the sun, giving the example of guests who had spent all day in the water. He encouraged a closer look at the yacht's aft to see the leaves of the lily "touching but not overlapping".
The general arrangement has been configured to provide intimate spaces to accommodate multiple groups of families and friends. Up on the top deck is a dedicated owner’s apartment and terrace – encompassing 450 square metres of interior space and 315 square metres of exterior deck space – boasting views traditionally reserved for the bridge.
Acting as a private sanctuary, the owner's apartment can be accessed via an elevator from the leisure deck and stepping stones across a lily pond, or a staircase from the upper deck. Floor-to-ceiling curved windows are covered in one-way film for privacy and an oval-shaped opening above the entrance channels fresh air into the yacht.
Meanwhile, the split-level design facilitates both natural airflow to reduce reliance on the HVAC system and separates the living area above from the sleeping quarters below, which offer six guest cabins and an aft lounge with a balcony. The three port and three starboard cabins sit on separate levels, providing accommodation options for different families or groups. Meanwhile, the upper deck offers three additional guest cabins, an open-plan cinema and a suspended playroom accessible via a bridge.
Navigation is also unconventional with a virtual bridge located on the upper deck. The space is equipped with the latest navigational technology to ensure safe and compliant navigation, including cameras and screens that would replace forward-facing windows. Port and starboard windows and balconies provide the bridge team with a physical connection to the outdoor environment.
The large leisure deck serves as the heart of onboard activity, featuring an outdoor pool on the aft deck, as well as a gym, wellness area, watersports gallery, bar and dining space.
Presenting an evolution of Oceanco and Lateral Naval Architect's Energy Transition Platform (ETP), Lily would be powered by a combination of methanol-reforming fuel cells and methanol-diesel engines, with dedicated tanks for both fuel types. It would also integrate ABB Dynafin™, a new propulsion system developed to achieve "high propulsive efficiency".
"Lily is a testament to what’s possible when design meets advanced construction and engineering," added Paris Baloumis, group marketing director at Oceanco. "It represents Oceanco’s drive to deliver a fully realisable yacht for an owner ready to embrace the future. Lily is not just a statement of intent; it’s a yacht ready to be brought to life."
