Ocean King of Chioggia, Italy has presented a new 118 model from its Ducale series of explorer yachts.
The builder has reported to Boat International that model development started in September 2017, and the preliminary work on this new design is well underway with renderings, interior design motif and general arrangements complete. The main technical specifications are also done, and engineering and naval architecture is in progress.
The Ocean King Ducale explorer yacht series, designed by VYD Studio of Venice and now including sizes of 88, 108, 118 and 148, is defined by contemporary exterior styling.
The Ducale 118 will be a full-displacement yacht built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
She was designed to a brief of a bold modern, yet timeless, Italian exterior style and a large volume of 402GT for her 36 metre LOA.
Designer of the Ducale 118 explorer yacht, Paolo Dose of VYD Studio, says, “Since the very beginning of the project the guideline we have decided with the builder was to emphasise all the features of a true explorer yacht. We have then pushed forward the superstructure so as to have an extremely voluminous aft space which will allow the guests to enjoy a versatile multifunctional area.”
This expansive aft deck offers plentiful options, such as stowing toys including up to a nine metre tender, which negates the need for a tender garage. When the tenders and toys are launched from the aft deck, this space will be able to transform into a huge, open-air beach club. It can be enjoyed with shade thanks to a sun awning or al fresco for dinners.
The interior of the Ocean King Ducale 118 explorer yacht has five cabins, including a full beam main deck master with huge picture box windows. The master includes an office. The upper deck hosts captain's quarters aft of the wheelhouse.
“These are exciting times for Ocean King," says Alberto Ballerin of Ocean King about the addition of the Ducale 118 to their offerings.
News of the new project comes just after Ocean King winning a World Superyacht Award for Best Rebuilt Yacht for the 40 metre Genesia.
