US-headquartered builder Nordhavn has joined the hull and superstructure on the first N80 EYF, a 24.4 metre model commissioned by a repeat client.
An avid game fisherman and previous owner of a 22.9-metre N75 EYF, the client requested several modifications to the yard's sportfisher platform. This included a 1.5-metre hull extension, a slight extension to the fighting deck and an extra 1.2 metres added to the upper aft deck for greater overhang shade.
"He loved his boat but after seven years of ownership, he felt like he needed a little more space," explained Jeff Leishman, Nordhavn's chief of design.
With a focus on improving the exterior area, the new model switches the traditional cockpit for a California deck, which extends out into a "utilitarian" lower deck. The increased square footage allows for more clearance between the doorway and settee area as well as space for a drinks fridge.
The N80 EYF will also feature the frameless pilothouse windows characteristic of "current Nordhavns" as well as benefitting from improved performance and seakeeping thanks to the extended waterline and prop shaft length. Key specs include a 6.8-metre beam and draft of 2.1 metres.
The yacht will be delivered from Nordhavn's facility in Xiamen, China, before spending her maiden season cruising Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu, as well as southeast Asia.
Last year, BOAT International was invited on board the Nordhavn 96 New Journey, which earned a nomination at the 2024 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards.
