Milestone reached on latest Nauta Air 110 explorer yacht model for Australian businessman Marcus Blackmore

The latest hull in the Nauta 110 explorer yacht series has now arrived at Cantiere delle Marche's (CDM) facility in Ancona, Italy for outfitting. Measuring 33.5 metres, the project was sold to Australian businessman Marcus Blackmore in February 2024.

"This project is especially meaningful, as the owner is not only a visionary entrepreneur and benefactor but also a true sailor and explorer," said Vasco Buonpensiere, shipyard co-founder and CEO.

Marcus and his wife Caroline previously competed in several races with their three Southern Wind builds (all christened Ammonite) and have also explored "most remote archipelagoes in the Pacific Ocean". BOAT International spoke to Blackmore about his love of sailing – and first big motor yacht project – earlier this year.

Exterior and interior design is owed to Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino of Nauta Design, with the former defined by a clean, uncluttered profile and gently clipped bow. The layout itself is custom and features "large lounging indoor areas" on the main and upper deck and two al fresco dining areas, with the larger positioned on the sundeck.

Buonpensiere also noted that the owner's nationality had partly drawn him to the Nauta 110: "The abundance of magnificent shores [in Australia], far from well-equipped harbours and marinas, has underscored the importance of explorer-like qualities, prioritising robustness and reliability," he explained.

Equipped with twin Caterpillar C18 engines, the yacht will have a range of above 4,000 nautical miles at 10 knots and a max speed of 13 knots.

Further details will be revealed as the build progresses.

According to BOATPro, Cantiere delle Marche has 17 superyacht projects on order or under construction, the largest of which are three Flexplorer 165 models (at 49.9 metres) and a 45-metre custom build.
