New Italian yard Cantiere Navale Italia has debuted its 13-metre superyacht tender named Baby at the Monaco Yacht Show. Baby is one of the top tenders to see at the Monaco Yacht Show 2015.
Cantiere Navale Italia was founded in January this year and will offer an all-aluminium range of yachts from 13 metres to 28 metres. Its first model, Baby, has been designed by the renowned Luca Dini.
Speaking of Baby, designer Luca Dini said, “A fighter plane without wings, a sporty boat that has perfect proportions, that really looks like a fighter, powerful and efficient thanks to state-of-the-art technology.”
Form follows function as the builder says its debut model Baby is designed around its hull. Her hull form is a planing V shape, with a variable geometry 16.8° dead-rise at the stern and lifting strakes to increase dynamic stability.
Not only does Baby's hull form provide stability, says Cantiere Navale Italia, but it represents the spirit of the whole yacht. The design of her lines was undertaken using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations. Cantiere Navale Italia paid particular attention to hull entry shape and chine proportions and positioning, to obtain a fast yet comfortable hull form.
Aluminium was chosen as a building material for the Cantiere Navale Italia range because of its reliability and light weight, translating into smaller engines and lower fuel consumption. The 13 metre tender has a beam of 3.8 metres and full-load displacement of 7.7 tons. Fuel capacity is 1,000 litres and she can carry 12 people.
The superyacht tender’s flush lines are enhanced by the installation of a single component instrument panel with a high-tech dashboard designed for the owner who wants to use the boat without a skipper. On deck, tables and settees are located forward, with a spacious walk-around sun bathing area aft, along with a useful hard top. Baby's internal layout includes a roomy washroom with separate shower, fully kitted out galley and a cabin with a large double bed, making her a tender good for overnighting and even short cruises.
Baby is designed as a high performance tender and propulsion comes from two Yanmar 370hp diesel stern drives engines, giving her a maximum speed of 43 to 45 knots.
The yard also has plans to build a 17 metre model. Each yacht in the range will be highly customisable, from the colour to the interior layout, furnishings and décor.
Cantiere Navale Italia, with headquarters in La Spezia, Italy has been put together by a group of Italian entrepreneurs and nautical professionals. The brand has been launched in the north American, European and Far East markets.
