BAZ Yacht Design has revealed a first look inside the 40-metre North Star (ex. Extreme) following her six-month refit. The Mengi Yay sailer was redelivered to her new owners in June 2023.
North Star's refit included refreshed, chromatic exteriors with "soft, green-blue add-ons" and a brand-new GRP hardtop, designed and engineered after 3D-scanning the flydeck with Leica Geosystems.
The main saloon has been fitted with a new lacquered ceiling and a 3D, "light-effected" wall behind its dining area. Textile-based wallpaper has been used throughout, to cover the original "yellowish" veneer walls that "did not totally reflect the owner's design vision", according to the studio. The master cabin also has a newly designed headboard (with upholstery) and a grey-toned colour palette in a similar style to the saloon.
Other works included smaller, aesthetic details such as upgrading the main saloon lighting to a five-setting system and custom leather handles for the cupboards and drawers in guest accommodation.
Meanwhile, most of the fixed exterior furniture was removed to fulfil the new owner's brief for "a more open space". Imagery reveals a minimalist aesthetic that incorporates plush, neutral-toned furniture and integrated lightning in the hardtop.
"I felt highly proud when, for a whole week [after re-delivery], we received messages and photos from the owners saying how happy they were with the result," added Barbaros Atal, BAZ Yacht Design co-founder.
Following the refit, which had been managed by Swell Yachting, North Star spent six months cruising along the Aegean Sea, according to AIS data from BOATPro. Her last known position showed the yacht had landed in Rhodes, the largest of Greece's Dodecanese islands, towards the beginning of December.
