Mangusta Yachts, a brand of Overmarine, has launched hull four in its Oceano 44 series at its site in Viareggio, Italy. Built in steel and aluminium, the model, named The Great Escape, is designed as a "modern floating loft" and the spiritual successor to its slightly smaller sister, the Mangusta Oceano 43.

The yacht's strong, classic lines are the work of Italian designer Alberto Mancini, characterised by broad glazing and semi-transparent aft bulwarks that encourage connectivity with the outdoors. This unit sports a striking, moody exterior that sets her apart from sisterships such as Eva4Eva.

The yacht was sold by Gaston Lees-Buckley at Camper & Nicholsons, who supervised all construction stages

Interiors are fully custom – a hallmark of the series – with this unit designed by the shipyard in collaboration with Gianluca Sist of H2 Design Studio. Accommodation comprises four guest cabins and a master suite with a private view of the ocean, with all cabins sharing the same colour scheme and materials for a sense of "exclusivity" and "design uniformity".

Meant to make the most of life at sea, the Mangusta Ocean 44 revolves around a wide, 104-square-metre sundeck and the central beach area, which has an unfolding transom and side terraces providing 180-degree views. Other standout features include two infinity pools on the foredeck and sundeck. The former is dubbed "The Island" and is accessible via a teak gangway alongside a lounging area surrounded by water.

The model is typically styled in white

The Great Escape can reach a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots, with zero-speed electric stabilisers providing extra comfort while underway or at anchor. The owner, based in Europe, will be putting these specs to good use across the Mediterranean.

The initial design for the Mangusta Oceano 44 was revealed during a virtual press conference in 2021.
