The biggest yachting news stories of March 2025

27 March 2025 • Written by Dea Jusufi

A shadow was cast over the yachting industry this month, with the news that Eddie Jordan – former F1 team boss, yacht owner and friend – had passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

Breaking news on Loon's disastrous tender crash in the Caribbean and the fate of the seized 106.1-metre Amadea did little to lighten things, though March did end with some brighter news. Launches and relaunches from Damen Yachting, a mammoth Feadship reveal and Rossinavi's secretive, in build explorer yacht are just some of the exciting updates included in this month's list.

BOAT rounds up everything you might have missed...

1. 101m Feadship superyacht Project 1013 launched and named Moonrise

This month, the 101-metre Moonrise made a splash at Feadship's facilities in Makkum, the Netherlands. The superyacht carries similar design cues to her predecessor – the 99.9-metre Moonrise – including strong, straight lines by Studio De Voogt and grey and snow-white paintwork.

According to the yard, she distinguishes herself from the previous iteration through "numerous technological enhancements and design refinements".

Two former crew members of the 67.5-metre superyacht Loon filed a negligence complaint against Captain Paul Clarke following a disastrous tender crash in Saint Barthélemy last year (December 2024).

Court documents obtained by BOAT International describe how Clarke – cited as the "operator" of the tender Reel Time – abandoned the helm and left the vessel "to continue forward in total darkness".

3. Hybrid 80m Feadship superyacht Faith sighted on transport

The 79.9-metre Feadship superyacht Faith (Project 714) was spotted en route to her sea trials from Aalsmeer, the Netherlands.

The new-build is the successor to the 96.6-metre Faith (now Sophia), one of the Dutch yard's largest launches to date (and known for her innovative "snow room").

10. US judge denies ex-Rosneft CEO's claim to 106m seized superyacht Amadea

This month, a US judge ruled that Eduard Khudainatov, the former CEO of a Russian state-owned oil conglomerate Rosneft cannot plausibly claim ownership of the 106.1-metre Lürssen yacht Amadea, which US authorities seized in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

"[There] is a sufficient basis to conclude that Claimants (Khudainatov) are mere straw owners of the Amadea, who hold title to it for another party," the statement read.
