The 52-metre vintage Feadship yacht Ice Bear will soon be available for bidding with Boathouse Auctions, in collaboration with central agency Burgess. The auction will begin on 10 October with registration already open.
Delivered in 1988 by the Dutch yard, Ice Bear has an exterior by Frits De Voogt, who also did the naval architecture. Her interior is by Paola D. Smith and Associates in Design. The broker pointed out that Ice Bear has only ever been used privately and is in "excellent condition" with a thorough and professional maintenance programme.
Accommodation is across five cabins, including a full-beam, main deck master suite with a private study, his and hers en suite bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe. The remaining cabins are positioned on the lower deck and benefit from seating areas and en suite bathrooms. There are further quarters for 11 crew.
Ice Bear is best known for her aft deck, which features two fixed fishing chairs complemented by a range of seating and a crow's nest with an outdoor helm station. She also has 24 decorative polar bears on board, in a nod to her Arctic namesake.
"What makes this yacht so rare is that she is one of the few sportfishing Feadships I've ever seen," said Kevin Kramer of Burgess. " If sport fishing is your passion, this is the only yacht for you, absolutely tailor-made for the job and designed around that visceral connection with the ocean."
Other communal spaces include a formal dining room on the main deck and a satin-finished skylounge and observation deck. There is also storage space for two tenders – an 8.5-metre Shamrock sportfisher and a 5.5-metre RIB.
Key numbers include a volume of 614GT, a 9.3-metre beam and a range of 4,850 nautical miles.
Bidding will commence at 16:00 EDT (21:00 BST) on 10 October 2024.
