Fabio Boschi has been appointed Chairman of superyacht builder Perini Navi.
The company’s shareholders voted Boschi to the post and he will join company founder Fabio Perini who is Honorary Chairman. The decision was announced in Viareggio on February 18. Boschi, aged 43, has been CEO of Perini Navi’s holding company, the Faper Group, since 2009. Faper controls a group of companies that operate in paper machinery, real estate and various other industries.
Boschi is a member of the advisory board of Real Estate Funds and Business Park management companies in Europe and South America. He was previously in charge of investment banking for a major Italian bank and for 10 years worked in strategic consulting and corporate finance with KPMG in Italy and the United Kingdom.
“I am extremely happy to have Fabio Boschi on board with Perini Navi“, said Fabio Perini. “This step completes a long term strategy to strengthen and reinforce our management and ensure continuity and sustainability throughout the group.”
The Perini Navi Group boasts a fleet of 59 large motor and sailing yachts. The group is made up of the Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio, founded in the 1980s, and the Picchiotti shipyard in La Spezia, where construction and refitting takes place for most of the range. There is a Perini Istanbul-Yildiz shipyard in Turkey where the group’s hulls and deck structures are produced.
Boat International reported in January after the superyacht Helios completed a refit at the Perini Navi yard in Viareggio.
One of the big market movements last year was the sale of the Perini Navi sailing superyacht Felicita West. The 64 metre sailing superyacht was the first 500-tonne aluminium sailing yacht to be MCA certified, delivered in 2003 with naval architecture by Ron Holland and exterior styling by Nuvolari Lenard. The Italian yard incorporated an ultra-wide beam of 12.7 metres that allows for side decks where two people can walk side by side.
