Extra Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, has presented two new models at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023; the 27-metre X90 Fast and the 29-metre X98 RPH. The X98 RPH is still at concept stage, while the X90 Fast will make its premiere at next year's boat shows.
Both yachts are evolutions of the Italian brand's existing lines, and Extra Yachts turned to Milanese studio Hot Lab to develop the design for each model. While both maintain signature Extra design features, the yard has said it is focusing on creating "elegant and sharp" lines with its new products.
The X90 Fast bills itself as the sportiest and most compact model in the range, while still building on the past line to offer a "tested and efficient" layout, according to Extra. The smart configuration sees the saloon divided from the aft cockpit by a galley with up-down windows, which acts as a partition between the spaces as well as a passageway leading to the crew quarters and engine room.
The sundeck can also be accessed from the unique galley area, meaning that the entire foredeck and helm station can be at the exclusive use of guests.
The X90 Fast benefits from 86 square metres of exterior space, which is enhanced by sliding windows in the hull. Four double en suite cabins can be found below deck, with the owner's cabin amidships taking full advantage of the 7.1-metre maximum beam. There is further complement for four crew members.
Triple IPS 1350 Volvo Penta engines of 1,000 hp give the yacht a top speed of 30 knots. The cruising speed settles at 24 knots, while at 12 knots the range is 1,000 nautical miles.
Meanwhile, the X98 RPH has a "two and a half" deck design that allows increased volume without compromising the sporty profile. The extra space on board allows for an owner's cabin on the main deck, as well as a galley and a dayhead on the same level.
There are four additional double cabins below deck creating a total 140 square metres of indoor guest areas and over 100 square metres of exterior space. The proposed propulsion package comprises three IPS 1350 Volvo Penta engines of 1,000 hp each which allow a maximum design speed of 28 knots. The cruising speed is 22 knots, while at 12 knots the range is 1,500 nautical miles.
“We are very happy to be given the opportunity of contributing to the expansion of the Extra Yachts range," said Enrico Lumini, founding partner of Hot Lab. “These are projects intended for mature owners and with different characteristics though sharing the unique and unmistakable brand philosophy that has distinguished EXTRA Yachts on the market to date”.
Across the ISA, Extra and Columbus brands, the Palumbo Group has nine yachts over 24 metres in build, according to BOATPro.
