Custom Line has launched the second unit in its 42-metre flagship Custom Line 140 series, a year after the shipyard celebrated the launch of hull number one.
The unnamed Custom Line 140 was lowered into the water during a ceremony held at the Ferretti Group Superyacht facility in Ancona, Italy, last month.
The yacht was rolled out of the shed to reveal a sporty silhouette by the studio of Francesco Paszkowski, who collaborated alongside Margherita Casprini and the Custom Line Atelier to create a personalised interior for an owner based in the Americas region.
In an interview, Paszkowski explained that the brief for the Custom Line 140 was to restyle the previous Custom Line planing models into a yacht that could "balance generous onboard spaces with optimal performance" to create a leader in the size segment.
Key design features drew inspiration from residential architecture, used to enhance the shapes and volume incorporated into the yacht. In the main deck saloon, a sense of airiness is lent by a ceiling height of 2.1 metres flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows, with opening doors aft and starboard. A neutral colour palette has been used throughout, including shades of taupe and white that blend with blue, green and dark brown accents.
Another standout feature is the 44-square-metre owner's suite, positioned forward on the main deck and fitted with a his-and-her bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and an office area. The four remaining guest cabins are all situated on the lower deck, replete with finishes in Volga Blue ultramarine flake granite, carbon-finish American Walnut and a variety of marbles such as polished Matt Sahara Noir, polished Orobico and Calacatta Gold.
On the performance side, naval engineering from the Ferretti Group Engineering Department used an innovative carbon fibre lightweighting technology as a means of achieving improved fuel efficiency and handling.
The yacht's enhanced capabilities pair with twin MTU 2,638hp engines for a top speed of 21.5 knots pared back to 15 knots cruising.
According to BOATPro, the yacht is expected for delivery in August of this year with a third Custom Line 140 currently in development. Ten other projects remain in the shed, including three Custom Line 106 models and the first Navetta 50 flagship superyacht.
