Italian designer Pierangelo Andreani has presented plans for a 56-metre catamaran centred around an adjustable central platform aft. The multi-use beach club is proposed to act as a helipad, pool or for hauling tenders.
Named Cat 50, the concept was born from a collaboration between Andreani and Amedeo Migali, managing director of the Italian company Marine Innovation Consulting and Design (MICAD) and boasts generous exterior spaces thanks to its 20-metre beam and 1,200GT.
Cat 50 is defined by its grey hull with strong lines and expansive glazing. Segments of the bulwark fold out to create guest balconies, further strengthening the vessel's commitment to closeness to the water with details that allow guests to “always perceive” the ocean.
The concept has been heavily influenced by an appetite for entertainment with the various layouts presented all maintaining a vast main deck towards the stern. All feature a fully-equipped bar and dining space overlooking the water.
Elsewhere, the upper deck has been imagined with an infinity pool overlooking the main deck and includes further options for lounging and sunset-watching. Accommodation will cater to 16 crew and 12 guests.
Andreani recommends the yacht be built in composite or aluminium with carbon superstructures. Also referred to as “Maxi Cat,” renderings for the vessel have been presented with multiple configurations and include a “sporty” version with four cabins, an immense saloon and a number of water toys, and a version with a third exclusive deck for an owner.
Andreani has a large portfolio of projects, spanning cars to boats, motorcycles to scooters and has been responsible for a number of designs for companies including Benelli, Maserati, Yamaha, Toyota and Beneteau.
Though hydrogen-solar panels are the ideal setup, power onboard is envisioned to come from twin MAN V12-2000 SCR systems, with a 250kw electric engine for low-speed propulsion.
