The first 60-metre Damen Yachting Xplorer 60 has been launched from the Dutch shipyard's facilities in Antalya, Turkey. The yacht is now entering its final outfitting phase, including commissioning and sea trials, with delivery expected in June 2025 according to BOATPro.
The Xplorer 60, formerly known as the SeaXplorer 60, has been built on spec and is currently for sale. She is recognisable by her striking hull and has been built to an exterior design by Azure Yacht Design. Naval architecture is by the Dutch yard, while interiors are the work of H2 Yacht Design. The Xplorer 60 builds on the original design of the 58.3-metre Xplorer Pink Shadow and the 76.9-metre Xplorer La Datcha, both of which have been successful yachts for charter.
Accommodation on the 1,160GT yacht is for up to 12 guests with space for 16 crew. Onboard highlights include the observation lounge with direct access to the exterior foredeck, allowing the owner and guests to view natural landscapes and wildlife in both the Mediterranean and polar frontiers. The yacht is also crowned by a crow's nest to enhance the viewing experience, as well as a fully certified helideck.
Aside from its explorer highlights, the Xplorer 60 is also home to more traditional superyacht features, including a special spa area on the bridge deck aft with space for a full-size whirlpool. The yacht is also capable of storing, launching and lifting a limo tender, a crew tender and jet skis located on the main deck aft area.
Rose Damen, managing director of Damen Yachting said: “Since introducing our SeaXplorer concept in 2015, Damen Yachting has become well-established as the luxury explorer yacht leader. We expect the future will see more owners demanding the autonomy, safety, flexibility and luxury that the Xplorer series offers. That is why we decided to build the Xplorer 60 on spec for fast delivery. [This first hull] is the only luxury explorer yacht available in her class and an amazing opportunity.”
Salih Saim Kaya, Damen Yachting project manager of the in-build Xplorer 60 added: “Being involved in the creation of this new series of Xplorer yachts has been a delight. The possibility of new owners having access to an Xplorer yacht of this calibre and luxury will be industry-changing."
The Ice-Class yacht is powered by hybrid propulsion and battery banks and has IMO Polar Code compliant engineering, which makes it suitable for all destinations.
According to BOATPro, the second Xplorer 60 is also in build with an expected delivery in May 2026.
