Dutch shipyard Lynx Yachts has revealed the first images of its 27 metre superyacht Avontuur.
As the first model of the Lynx Crossover 27 series, the yacht is due make her hotly anticipated debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2022 next week.
Named after the Dutch word for adventure, the 150GT yacht has been designed to maximise tender and toy storage to meet the needs of an active American owner.
The steel and aluminium motor yacht features exteriors from Dutch studio Bernd Weel, with interiors by Franck Darnet and naval architecture courtesy of Diana Yacht Design.
A comfortable and live-able environment was key to the design, according to Franck Darnet. "This is a very important theme in all of our designs, as I am also a sailor so have spent a lot of time on boats over the years," he commented. "Not only this, but we wanted to create something which uses the best quality materials, but is still easy to maintain and durable.”
As a result, the yacht uses a blend of oak and white stone, alongside 'raw concerete' colour for a clean, minimalist look that won't look dated, according to Darnet.
"The last thing I wanted was to create some kind of ‘fashion’ interior where you have to throw everything away after only a few years because it’s no longer on trend," he added.
Key features of the yacht include a bright and airy main saloon and 70 square metre multi-purpose main deck which can host an Air Nautique G23 and a five-metre RIB. The sundeck is similarly well-considered, with space for a pair of Waverunners and a pair of Jet-Skis plus a crane.
The vessel’s initial layout from the yard offers four cabins, comprising an owner’s cabin, a VIP cabin, and two twin cabins with separate crew quarters. However, Avontuur’s owner opted for a different configuration, featuring just three guest cabins and also integrating the crew quarters into her guest space.
Elsewhere, the yacht has space for stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, canoes and a full set of scuba diving equipment - something that was crucial for the owner.
“This boat is fantastic because it is so freeing – after a lifetime of struggling with storage for my gear, this boat allows me to keep everything on it all the time and do whatever I want, whenever I want," he said.
The yacht was launched on March 18 at the Lynx facilities in the Netherlands. She marks the first yacht in the Crossover series, which is described as an intermediate model between an explorer and a support vessel.
Speaking at the launch, Slim Bouricha, founder and owner of Lynx Yachts, said: “We are delighted to launch Avontuur following a fantastic and fruitful collaboration with her Californian owner. He is a seasoned and sporty yachtsman who was involved at every single level of the build, and it has been a real pleasure working together.”
The Crossover 27 offers an eco range of 3,000 nautical miles at ten knots. She is powered by twin C12.9–2 x 850hp at 2300 rpm engines and can reach a maximum speed of 14 knots.
This unit was sold in March 2020.
