The 71.6-metre OY Laivateollisuus explorer yacht Nansen Explorer has changed central agencies, now listed for sale with Vesa Kaukonen at Large Yacht Corp.
Delivered by Finnish ship builder OY Laivateollisuus in 1983, Nansen Explorer underwent a multimillion-euro refit completed in 2022, bringing her up to Class 1A – the highest class below that of an icebreaker. Her exterior was designed in-house by the yard, with her interiors courtesy of NMI and Ashild Landevaag, Landz Architects.
According to her broker, the 71.6 metre - named after famed Norwegian explorer Fridtjof Nansen - "offers a truly unique experience".
Following her refit, she has a much larger lounge area with a bar, enlarged windows and high ceilings, making her stand out from her nine sisterships. Accommodation is for 12 guests in seven cabins, with living areas finished in "Scandi-chic". There are quarters for a crew of 22 in 17 cabins, including a medic's cabin.
Nansen Explorer has been owned and operated by experienced professionals and has quick tender launch capability and a spacious adventure hangar, equipped for heli-skiing or diving. The helipad is commercially certified with a registered capacity of 4.8 tonnes.
The refit included the addition of stern thrusters to the 1,859GT, commercially-registered explorer yacht for sale, which has a draught of five metres. A cruising speed of 12 knots, under twin Gorkij/Rumo G-74 engines, gives an impressive range of 12,000 nautical miles.
Nansen Explorer is asking €9,900,000. She is currently lying in Norway, where she has resided for the past year.
