The 71.6-metre Laivateollisuus explorer yacht Nansen Explorer is now for sale with James Pool of Y.CO at a significantly reduced asking price of €9,900,000 – €6,000,000 lower than previously.
Delivered by Finnish ship builder Laivateollisuus in 1983, Nansen Explorer underwent a multimillion euro refit completed in 2022, bringing her up to Class 1A – the highest class below that of an icebreaker. Her exterior was designed in-house by the yard, with her interiors courtesy of NMI and Ashild Landevaag, Landz Architects.
The broker pointed out the steel-hulled explorer is "the ultimate vessel for remote exploration", and is "equipped with cutting-edge, ice-class hull technology and an extensive array of adventure equipment".
Since her refit she has a much larger lounge area with a bar, enlarged windows and high ceilings, making her stand out from her nine sisterships. Accommodation is for 12 guests in seven cabins, with living areas finished in "Scandi-chic". There are quarters for a crew of 22 in 17 cabins, including a medic's cabin.
Nansen Explorer has been owned and operated by experienced professionals and has quick tender launch capability and a spacious adventure hangar, equipped for heli-skiing or diving. The helipad is commercially certified with a registered capacity of 4.8 tonnes.
The refit included the addition of stern thrusters to the 1,859GT commercially-registered yacht for sale, which has a draft of five metres. A cruising speed of 12 knots, under twin Gorkij/Rumo G-74 engines, gives an impressive range of 12,000 nautical miles.
Nansen Explorer is now asking €9,900,000.
