Italian yard Ferretti Group has announced that the first hull from Ferretti Yachts' new 29-metre 940 series has been launched in Cattolica, Italy.
The model was first unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024, with the yard announcing soon after that three hulls in the series had already been sold. The first hull (now launched) was signed at a Private Preview event hosted by the Group.
Described by Ferretti as a "seagoing home", the 940 cleverly combines design with spaciousness and comfort: a result of exterior and interior design from longstanding collaborators Filippo Salvetti and IdeaeITALIA, respectively.
With a length of 29 metres and a beam of 6.8 metres, hull number one from the model has been praised for her five-cabin layout (accommodating 10), versatile exterior areas and striking new addition of floor-to-ceiling glazing.
Her main deck is versatile: home to a spacious cockpit furnished with freestanding furniture, and a glass parapet (similarly found on the Ferretti Yachts 1000 model), which ensures continuity with the stern platform.
Inside, a near 30-square-metre saloon - accessible through large sliding glass doors - is finished in Ideaeitalia's "Classic" theme: curated for the yard as a combination of warm, earthy tones for an elegant and inviting onboard ambience. Features include an L-shaped sofa, sliding TV and central dining table for eight. Notably, an additional sliding glass door provides direct access to the starboard side walkway.
A full-beam owner's suite on the main deck lays claim to the "widebody" hull concept of the model, with hull number one's interior adorned with precious Silver Roots marble, including in the full-beam bathroom. The remaining three VIP cabins and one guest cabin (with sliding beds) are located on the lower deck.
At the centre of the 940 design is the raised pilot house - characterised by a single-paned windscreen for a clean finish and increased visibility - and the generous flybridge, which has been optimised for al fresco dining. A large C-shaped sofa, dining table and sunpads at the outdoor area forward also offer another lounging space.
"She's just amazing. We've managed to design a very sleek, sporty yacht with incredible volume," shared the Group's previous chief commercial officer Stefano de Vivo at the unveiling of the model last year in Cannes. "Clients can choose between two interior styles – a more classic approach or something fresh and summery."
The first unit launched is powered by two 2000 hp MAN engines, expected to provide a top speed of 25 knots and a cruising speed of 21 knots (preliminary data before sea trials).
Hull number one of the 940 series is expected to remain in Italian waters following her delivery.
