Design studios byJC and Rob Doyle Design have revealed a new, 63.5-metre explorer trimaran concept known as Oi60. The concept has been designed "to reach the far corners of our planet with pace".
Where her exterior is concerned, Oi60 features a sharp and tight profile, fitted with wave-piercing hulls to minimise pitching motion while underway. Oi60 is fitted with a cross beam connecting the three hulls, which achieves the effect of a "huge, perforated box" layout.
Forward, the yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests and benefits from plentiful natural light thanks to the glass walls wrapped around her structure. Life on board would revolve around the yacht’s midship, comprising a multi-purpose space which is revealed through openings integrated into the structure. The main deck provides moveable partitions which can open and protect the area as required.
Renderings show the yacht to include an aft swimming platform fitted with a large pool, solar panels spanning her roof structure, a beach club and plenty of outdoor lounging and dining space.
On the technical side, the sail plan incorporates a free-standing mast and simplified sailing systems which can be operated single-handedly from the bridge or helm stations.
Her masts are Panamax compliant, which allow for easy passage between the Atlantic and Pacific, making Oi60 suited to global exploration.
Key specs include a mast height of 61 metres, a beam of 28 metres and an internal space with a gross tonnage of more than 1,200GT.
The yacht is set to be "both self-sufficient and efficient, harnessing power from the wind and sun".
