A 26.8-metre Princess yacht named Hot Pursuit has sustained major damage after an onboard fire in Las Olas Isles, Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday (8 March).
Fire crews were called to the scene at around 10.30am local time, where they found the yacht's flybridge engulfed in flames. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue issued a statement saying that its fire crew had been able to extinguish the flames quickly and confine the fire to the upper decks of the five-year-old vessel.
However, the GRP superstructure has sustained significant damage, with large areas of the gunwales and hardtop burnt and melted.
The cause of the incident will be investigated, but preliminary reports indicate the fire could have been sparked by an electrical problem. Prior to the fire, Hot Pursuit had stored a tender on the flybridge, alongside a helm station and seating options.
No injuries have been reported, but local media outlets have said that one person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Hot Pursuit is one of 27 Princess Y88 models. She was delivered by Princess Yachts in 2018 and offers accommodation for eight guests and three crew. Her top speed is 30 knots.
