British studio North West Boatworks has unveiled Aurora, an 80-metre superyacht concept created as part of Oceanco's Simply Custom portfolio. Designed to simplify the commissioning process, Simply Custom offers clients a proven platform by Lateral Naval Architects with extensive customisation options for both the exterior and interior.
Named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora is designed to capture "beauty and light," according to the shipyard. In particular, designer Alex Fogg highlighted the concept's "unique use of glass, light and space," with the exterior defined by large, curved glazing.
Fogg described Aurora's styling as drawing inspiration from both the natural world and the automotive industry, featuring "sweeping feminine curves" and "crisp creases and complex surfacing" reminiscent of hypercars.
Although her interior details remain undisclosed at this stage, exterior renderings reveal the yacht’s design to include an expansive aft deck with a large swim platform and a fold-out balcony, providing easy access to the water. Meanwhile, the spacious deck areas are set to feature ample room for lounging and dining, with cream sunpads arranged across the decks and dedicated al fresco dining spaces.
A standout feature of the yacht is the integration of large glass panels that flood the interiors with natural light. As her designer explained, Aurora’s exterior and interior spaces are crafted to work "in harmony” with seamless integration.
All Simply Custom designs are equipped with advanced technical systems, including a "highly optimised" stabilisation system, pod drives, electric propulsion and onboard battery storage. Additionally, the platform is fully compatible with renewable diesel fuels such as HVO, enabling owners to "reduce the yacht’s carbon emissions by approximately 80 to 90 per cent compared to using normal marine diesel," according to Oceanco.
This unveiling follows the introduction of other Simply Custom concepts, such as Pininfarina's 80-metre Kairos, which was revealed earlier this year.
