Sanlorenzo launches ninth 500EXP ahead of schedule

26 May 2022 • Written by Olivia Michel

The ninth hull of the Sanlorenzo 500EXP explorer yacht series has hit the water in Italy, launched by the shipyard two months ahead of its production schedule.

An evolution of the 460EXP, the yacht has been described by the yard as sporting an “elegant profile and significant volumes.” Measuring 47 metres in length, up to 10 guests and nine crewmembers can be accommodated on board.

Renderings of the vessel released by Sanlorenzo show a two-toned silver and white hull and superstructure with an extended aft deck that can double as a helipad or additional water toy storage.

Other features include al fresco dining and lounge spaces including cocktail bars on two of the decks as well as a Jacuzzi, a beach club with a swimming platform and fold-out balconies for direct access to the water plus a garage which can carry a seven-metre tender. Interiors are designed in a contemporary style, with a neutral colour palette and vast panoramic windows for enjoying views out to sea.

An increased cruising range for exploring remote destinations is provided by two CAT C 32 engines.

Sanlorenzo has confirmed that the ninth unit will be delivered to its owners in July 2022, with the 10th and 11th units of the superyacht series already under construction.

The latest launched superyacht joins a fleet of well-travelled sisterships, including the world-girdling Ocean Dreamwalker III which was nominated for the 2021 Voyager’s Award following an epic trip around Alaska.
