The Finnish performance sailing yacht builder Nautor’s Swan has unveiled a range of cruising yacht designs from 60 to 115 feet in length.
Like all yachts built at the yard since the early 1980s, the boats have been designed by naval architect German Frers together with Nautor’s design team. The range includes the Swan 60RS (raised saloon), Swan 80RS (revealed in April this year) and the Swan 105RS, which will hit the water in 2014, plus the flagship Swan 115RS – the first of which will sail in 2015.
‘The real DNA of Swan is a high-performance yacht – not speed per se, but performance in the pleasure of sailing,’ says Enrico Chieffi, CEO of Nautor’s Swan. ‘With this cruising line we are staying with our nature, the pleasure of sailing – with easy handling, a big capacity to stay at sea for a long time, storage, fuel tanks.’
Developed with needs of both bluewater and long-distance cruisers in mind, the models offer shorthanded sailing with ease and also are suited for long distances, with increased protection from the elements, additional stowage and tankage and the option for shallow draft with lifting keels.
Nautor’s cruising range will use the same hull design and construction techniques and materials of the successful performance range and will be built entirely by Nautor’s craftsmen at the company’s headquarters in Finland.
