Moonen Yachts' 37.4-metre Lumière has departed from The Netherlands on her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean, where her Australian owners will join her to spend their first season on board. BOATPro registers her final destination as the Sa Foradada, Mallorca.
The yacht was delivered at the start of the month and she was sighted undergoing sea trials on Haringvliet Lake. Described as a "home away from home", the yacht belongs to the Dutch shipyard's Martinique 122 series, with a design by René van der Velden.
This particular hull is slightly bigger than her sisterships and has been customised to suit the owners' tastes and use of the yacht. Onboard highlights include an extended sundeck and large Jacuzzi pool, as well as an extended swim platform providing an additional eight square metres of space thanks to an integrated folding platform. An almost continuous band of windows wrapping around the main and bridge decks offer panoramic views.
The interior offers up 345GT of volume and will be designed by London-based Studio Indigo, which also handled the interior on board the first Martinique hull named Brigadoon. Accommodation is for 12 guests and seven crew.
The hull was constructed at the Talsma Shipyard in the Netherlands – the first time a Martinique hull was built by an external shipyard – before being transported to Moonen's Den Bosch shipyard.
Moonen Yachts' technical director Nicky van Zon commented on the delivery: “All of us on the Moonen team are incredibly proud of Lumière. She is an exquisite example of attention to detail, craftsmanship and design excellence. I am certain that Lumière will provide her owners and guests with a haven of calm and tranquillity wherever their journeys take them.”
Lumière has a top speed of 17 knots, with a 4,000 nautical mile range when cruising at 10 knots.
The shipyard recently released the "rich and characterful" interior renderings of its sixth Martinique model, Moonshine, designed by first-time collaborator Hollander Yacht Design. Lumière's final commissioning took place next to another Moonshine, which will be the sixth Martinique delivered.
