MCP Yachts' custom Project Seaview launched and named Hygge

MCP Yachts has launched its 40.7-metre, all-aluminium superyacht Project Seaview from its from its facility in Guarujá, Brazil and named her Hygge. Formerly known as MCP 143, she is currently undergoing final finishes and painting ahead of her delivery later this summer.

Project Seaview builds on an existing partnership with Dutch studio Vripack, with the two having previously worked together on the 37.4-metre Queen Tati and the 43.8-metre Raffaella II.

Damien Chaves, director of engineering at MCP Yachts, said: "Hygge is built with a full-aluminum hull that allows for unmatched internal volume, lightness and autonomy. She is a 40-metre superyacht that offers the comfort of a 50-metre, yet with draught and lightness features that allow owners a more dynamic, versatile and sustainable range for global exploration."

Hygge is built in aluminium, with a layout focused on maximising space and privacy. All areas are accessed and serviced by crew via stairs independent of the guest staircase – a feature not typically seen in yachts of a similar size bracket.

"The owner’s lifestyle requirements were just as extensive as their accommodation needs," explained Vripack's Bart Bouwhuis. "With large social gatherings, long lingering family meals and endless days cruising the Brazilian coast on the agenda, Seaview had to deliver multi-generational needs."

Accommodation is across seven cabins, including the 360-degree master cabin which has been fitted with a private terrace and settee. Two additional VIP cabins are located on the lower deck. While interior details remain unreleased, they will incorporate oversized windows and a balance of classic and modern features courtesy of South American designer Leonardo Rotsen.

Onboard highlights include a lower deck beach club and spa, including a gym, sauna and swim platform. The main deck features a large lounge, paired with al fresco dining on the aft deck and a bank of semi-circular oversized sunpads. Private banquet seating can be found on the upper deck, which has been designed with gullwing lookouts for far-flung views.

The RINA-classed yacht is built with two Caterpillar C32 engines, allowing a maximum speed of 19 knots and a transoceanic range of 3,500 nautical miles when pared back to 10 knots.

The announcement follows MCP Yachts' reveal of Queen Tati's interiors following her delivery in January.
