History of MCP Yachts
Brazilian builder MCP Yachts has quietly been producing large, custom luxury yachts for local and international clients for more than 35 years The shipyard entered the luxury yacht market in the late 1980s by constructing steel-hull vessels in the 27-metre range, then gained the yachting industry’s attention in 1994 by building a 36.58m aluminium yacht and displaying it at the Nice Boat Show. Today, luxury yacht builder MCP offers 10 different customisable motor yachts ranging from flybridge models to superyachts and measuring from 21.33 to 42.5 metres.
Notable MCP Yachts
In 2013, superyacht builder MCP Yachts launched what was likely the largest wholly aluminium luxury yacht built in South America to that point, the 42.5m Hemisphere 140 Raffaella II. Dutch yacht design firm Vripack provided the naval architecture for the superyacht’s semi-displacement hull, which has a maximum speed of 19 knots with twin Caterpillar C32 diesels, and a range of 4,000nm. Innovative both in appearance and hull design, the 32.31mm, 26-knot MCP 106 Limited Edition launched in 2014.
