Refit yard Marina Barcelona 92 (MB92) has been acquired by European investment firm Squircle Capital.
The firm will now be the majority shareholder of the refit, repair and maintenance group MB92, with a 77.5% stake in the business.
The acquisition marks a new phase of expansion for the MB92 Group following their purchase of a majority share in Compositeworks in 2017, and Blohm+Voss La Ciotat, which then merged and became MB92 La Ciotat in 2018.
President and CEO of MB92 Group, Pepe García-Aubert, said Squircle Captial has an "exciting long-term vision" of how to grow the group.
"I have no doubt that we will benefit from their strategic expertise and broad experience," he added.
José Caireta, founding partner at Squircle Capital, added: “In just a few years, MB92 has managed to carve out a unique position, not only as a leader within the sector but also as an exemplary provider of refit, repair and maintenance services for superyachts."
The transaction has received regulatory approval but is expected to close in the coming weeks.
In 2015, MB92 was responsible for the refit of 90 metre classic yacht Nero, one of the largest superyacht refits the yard has even undertaken.
