Superyacht _Global _has received a new carbon-built custom Limousine 8.0 tender, built by Xtenders and designed by Vripack, that promises high-performance.
The Xtenders Limousine 8.0 tender marks a step forward in tender design as the world’s first autoclave pre-preg carbon built limo tender. In layman’s terms? This tender is extremely light – 2,500kg lightship and 3,500 fully loaded – very strong and primed for powerful performance, reaching 40 knots.
Keeping the carbon Limousine 8.0 tender light means the engines can be reduced in size, which leads to lower fuel consumption overall.
Xtenders’ founder Herbert Dercksen is a former Olympic sailor, and sailing precepts have trickled down into the Limousine 8.0 custom tender to luxury yacht Global. In addition its light weight, Vripack designed the tender's hull with a sailboat-like entry, flared bow and deep-V aft hull form. This hull design is intended to reduce slamming and redirect spray, giving a smooth and dry ride – two things that are needed for any top limo tender.
Vripack was inspired by the exterior of the mothership, 68 metre Lürssen Global, for the styling. She was also planned to fit exactly in Global's existing tender garage.
The interior is extremely detailed. As Vripack points out, “An interior for a limousine tender is…like a car, your eyes are very close to the details crafted.” As such, Vripack was inspired by car interiors for the interior, utilising Bentley stitched leather and matte dark woods.
As an ideal touch for a superyacht tender, Global’s limo tender has a champagne fridge, customised mood lighting and is air-conditioned for guest comfort for her 12 guests.
