Italian yard Canados has announced the launch of its new 29.2-metre Gladiator 961 Speed, which was first unveiled in 2022 and will form the flagship of the Gladiator series.
With interiors from Cristiano Gatto, the Gladiator 961 Speed focus on blending speed with style. The result will be a spacious, elegantly-styled sports yacht with plenty of scope for customisation and the capacity to reach top speeds in excess of 50 knots.
While compact, the sports model will feature a number of big-boat amenities including an aft deck equipped with a wet bar, grill, lounge area for 12 and the provision to create an open-air cinema with a 1.6 metre by 2.8 metre screen.
The yacht’s transom will also be equipped with an underwater camera that can stream footage directly to screens inside the yacht.
Opportunities to unwind al fresco are offered in the foredeck lounge or the aft deck sunpad spread. Concealed below the aft sunpad is storage for a 3.8 metre tender with a crane to aid in launch and recovery.
Interior styling is fresh and modern, with a family-friendly, comfortable ethos underpinning all aspects of the design. Leather, lacquer and linen all feature throughout, alongside discreet lighting and satin blond ash wood.
The first model has been built for an experienced yachtsman who has customised the Canados Gladiator 961 Speed to include triple-engine propulsion and a four-cabin layout with complement for a crew of four.
As per the client’s wishes, the boat will also be equipped with electronic assistance such as a maneuvering joystick coupled to transmissions, bow and stern thrusters, as well as 360-degree cameras.
In order to maintain a lightweight build, the yacht’s floors and structural elements have been made with E - Glass with an Airex coring to reduce weight, eliminate squeaking, increase rigidity and reduce noise underway. All interior furniture, produced in-house, is also made of lightweight cored material such as high-density polyurethane foam or composite and aluminum honeycomb.
Other new models set to launch next year include an Oceanic 100’ Shadow and an Oceanic 76’ Shadow.
The Gladiator line is the sportiest offering from the Italian yard, with seven Gladiator models in the line ranging from 41’ (12.4 metres) to 96’ (29 metres).
This year remains busy for the Rome-based shipbuilder, with 17 boats set to hit the water this season. The current order book includes 33 boats including an Oceanic 76’ Shadow, an Oceanic 100’ Shadow, an Oceanic 143’ Tri-Deck, a Canados 152’ and two Gladiator 96’.
The yacht is expected to be delivered to her owner later this year.
