Lucky Wave: Third Benetti Diamond 44M launched

12 October 2021 • Written by Olivia Michel

Italian shipyard Benetti has launched the third hull in its Diamond 44M series, called Lucky Wave.

The launch took place at Benetti’s Viareggio site using the shipyard’s historic 56 metre inclined slipway which dates back to 1873 and is unique for its size in Italy.

The Diamond 44M is the fiberglass flagship of the Benetti Class category, with Lucky Wave following the launch of the first hull, Ink, in 2020 and the second, Donna Santa Due, delivered in early 2021.

The exterior of Lucky Wave has been designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta.

The white-paint exterior of Lucky Wave has been designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta and features epoxy fillers and hand-polished steel bridges for a classic, aesthetic finish. The light-filled interiors were penned by Benetti's Interior Style Department and offer separate paths to divide entryways for guests and crew.

Up to 10 guests can be accommodated across five suites, while an additional five cabins offer accommodation for eight members of crew.

A key feature of Lucky Wave is the 102 square metre sun deck with al fresco dining and entertaining spaces, which is the largest in its size category.

Other details revealed by the shipyard include a sophisticated ventilation system to circulate fresh air on board and advanced technology and soundproofing materials to reduce noise and vibrations while underway and at anchor.

At a comfortable cruising speed of 11 knots, Lucky Wave offers a range of 3,800 nautical miles.

There are currently three more Diamond 44M units under construction at the yard.
