Turkish yard Ares Yachts has released new renderings of its 54-metre explorer yacht concept named Atlas.
The yacht’s exterior lines are the work of Italian design studio Hot Lab with naval architecture – namely a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) – from Van Oossanen. Atlas is characterised by a suite of sharp, angular lines and extensive use of glass with a high bow capable of handling tough sea conditions, giving her a strong profile.
Designed to remain under the 500GT threshold, Atlas boasts a "genuine go-anywhere capability" with options for hybrid propulsion and solar panels to reduce its environmental impact.
A distinctive feature on board is the mezzanine structure at the bow, which replaces a conventional foredeck and is split into multiple levels, forming a private outdoor retreat complete with spa pool, accessible directly from the owner’s suite. This allows the owner to step out onto a private terrace and enjoy a morning swim with panoramic views.
Four generous additional guest suites also benefit from direct access to the beach club, thanks to the location of the engine room forward. A crew of nine is also housed across five cabins to provide the best superyacht guest experience.
Outdoor spaces include expansive decks, configured with versatile lounging and dining spaces for an effortless transition between entertainment and relaxation, as well as an infinity pool with ocean views. Antonio Romano, commercial and marketing director of the Viken Group and co-founder of Hot Lab explained how "every space is crafted to elevate the yachting lifestyle" – whether that's "hosting an elegant dinner under the stars or launching straight into an adrenaline-fuelled water adventure".
Meanwhile, the beach club is described as a "true, welcoming lounge" with fold-down terraces on both sides to create an expansive living space. More than a swim platform, the space is a social hub, complete with cocktail bar, sunbeds and relaxed lounge seating.
"The effect of this is a resort-like atmosphere where those on board can move seamlessly between socialising, on-water activities and relaxation,” said Enrico Lumini, design director and co-founder of Hot Lab.
Piraye Şahinkaya Orhun, managing director at Ares Yachts, said: “Intelligent design features are found on every deck–from her transformable stern to her multi-tiered terraces. Our talented shipyard team are looking forward to making these into a reality in steel and aluminium.”
Expedition-ready elements of Atlas's design include her spacious tender garage with side-launch system for easy deployment of a large primary tender, perfect for island hopping and exploring remote areas. The yacht carries a wide variety of toys, including jet skis, seabobs, paddleboards, diving gear and specialised equipment such as e-foils and submersibles. Her off-grid potential is enhanced by her helipad capability.
The concept would be able to offer a top speed of 16 knots, with a range of nearly 5,000 nautical miles.
Ares Yachts recently revealed the interiors of its 50.6-metre superyacht project in collaboration with Bannenberg & Rowell, named Spitfire. It also confirmed that its 62-metre flagship Simena is on track for delivery in March 2025.
