The venerable 28.65 metre motor yacht Conquest of 1966 has been sold in an in-house deal conducted by Christian Ekeberg of Ekeberg Yachts.
Built by Spain's Luzuriaga yard in steel as a full displacement yacht to a design by D.J. Richardson, she was launched in 1966 as a true gentleman's yacht.
The yacht has some fun history behind her, with Christian Ekeberg reporting that she was once owned by actor and comedian Norman Wisdom and was one of the first yachts to be formally introduced to the charter market in the South of France.
She was completely rebuilt between 2008 and 2009 with a calm, classic interior by Luc Deflorenne and accommodates up to nine guests in four staterooms. These consist of a master suite, two doubles and a twin with a Pullman berth, and all staterooms have en suite bathroom facilities.
An expansive main deck saloon has ample comfortable seating, a bar and an entertainment system. A huge aft deck and massive flybridge offer endless opportunities for al fresco entertaining and, now MCA compliant, she celebrated her first season as a charter yacht in 2013. Following a full restoration in 2011, Conquest of 1966 now combines the tranquil spirit of a classic yacht with state-of-the-art technology.
Her top speed is 14 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 1,000 nautical miles at 11 knots with power coming from two 450hp Cummins QSL9.M diesel engines.
Lying in Antibes, France, Conquest of 1966 was asking €1,490,000.
