25m Rogers sailing yacht Aegir sold

17 October 2024 • Written by Nick Jeffery

The 25.1-metre sailing yacht Aegir has been sold with Sean McCarter of Northrop & Johnson representing the buyer and Youri Loof of Bernard Gallay Yacht Brokerage representing the seller.

Delivered from Carbon Ocean Yachts in 2011, the fast sloop was built in the USA of pre-preg carbon fibre with design and naval architecture by Lymington/UK-based Simon Rogers, whose family has built and raced sailing yachts successfully for generations.

Lying in Mallorca, Spain, Aegir was asking €1,950,000 with VAT paid.

Aegir won the International Superyacht Society "Boat of the Year" award in 2011, the broker said, "before going on to sweep the board in her class on the racing circuit, winning the Rolex Maxi Yacht Cup in both 2012 and 2013 and coming second in 2016. To purchase Aegir is to purchase a piece of race-winning history."

The main saloon is spacious, featuring an open-plan layout including a multimedia entertainment centre, with the galley off to one side that leads to the crew cabin aft. A triple skylight ensures plenty of daylight floods in. Accommodation is for six guests in a master suite amidships, a VIP suite forward and a twin – all with en-suite bathrooms. In addition, the master and VIP suites have full entertainment centres.

The interior can be stripped out for serious racing and put back after the regatta to go cruising. In 2012, Aegir cruised from Mallorca to Malta, a distance of 670 nautical miles, in only 62 hours, with winds gusting over 40 knots, as she hit speeds of over 22 knots.

Under power, a 180hp Yanmar engine gives the 56GT yacht a top speed of 12 knots and a range of 825 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Lying in Mallorca, Spain, Aegir was asking €1,950,000 with VAT paid.
