Every month we place a spotlight on one of the best-designed brokerage boats that have joined the market, changed agents or have had a significant price drop. For June, the 78-metre yacht Energy is our Brokerage Boat of the Month.
Tasked with a brief to "defy convention and find ways to connect with the ocean", naval architect Espen Øino and interior designer François Zuretti are the masterminds behind Amels' 77.8-metre Energy. The design duo first worked together on Blohm & Voss' 74.5-metre Eco, now Zeus, with Martin Francis in the 1980s. Delivered in 2022, the superyacht hit the design brief with distinction. Now, she is lying in Monaco where the yacht is listed for sale for the first time with Peter Brown of Burgess, POA.
BOAT's brokerage editor says:
Energy is a fine example of exterior and interior designers working closely together to create a holistic design. When Øino and Zuretti first collaborated on Eco (now Zeus), I was in the design team too and witnessed first-hand the mutual respect for each of their skills.
The expanses of curved window panes on Eco clearly had to work with the interior layout. Energy similarly has vast areas of glass and openings, all appearing to effortlessly work perfectly – whether at the bathroom basin facing out or enjoying the view through full-height windows in the martial arts suite.
Zuretti confirmed that the owner wanted continuity between the interior lounges and the outside terraces. He said: "We worked hand in hand with Øino to create this continuity, not only by extending ceilings and floors without thresholds, but also by seeking an aesthetic extension of the interior decoration towards the outside."
Zuretti added: "The link with the sea is provided by large platforms that extend the experience of relaxation and physical activity over the sea."
The broker says:
Peter Brown, senior partner at Burgess said: "We are hugely excited to bring this exceptional 77-metre Amels to market for the first time. Energy was delivered in 2022 and has only ever been used sparingly by the original owner. Boasting a remarkable 2,885GT, she is priced well below her replacement cost and is the most recently delivered Northern European yacht over 70 metres currently available for sale."
He continued: "Energy presents in exceptional condition and is available for immediate purchase. We look forward to presenting her at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show – but only if a buyer is not found beforehand!".
Key features:
- Spacious gym with fold-out sea terrace
- Large beach club and spa
- Lower to bridge deck glass elevator
- Very wide walk-around side decks
- Substantial upper deck aft pool
- Massive internal volume of 2,885GT.
What makes her special?
Øino said: “It’s definitely a unique project. The large open top deck, large aft pool and very wide side decks that can be utilised as private guest balconies are features which come together to make this design very special.”
Zuretti pointed out that the owner was particularly involved throughout the development of the project. He said: "The first important elements stemmed from his way of life on board, as he wanted to create a forward-facing owner's area, protected from view when the boat was docked. Similarly, the VIP cabins have their own terrace, preserving the tranquillity and privacy of guests."
Zuretti added: "The general layout reserves a large part of the main deck for tenders and toys. This unusual layout frees up an enormous amount of space for guests on the lower deck to enjoy wellness activities, but also to enjoy the pool and outdoor areas on the upper deck undisturbed and protected."
As for the style of decoration, Zuretti said: "Our client wanted to explore a contemporary ambience, but without compromising on comfort. We have worked with precious materials, crafted by talented artisans, and sourced unique pieces of furniture to create full bespoke interiors that mix a feeling of luxury and relaxed and casual life on board.
He continued: "The owner's own taste for Asian art is often reflected in the decor we created, with the presence of emblematic oriental objects, or subtle touches of Japanese craftsmanship, such as precious lacquers. We are proud of the result and the trust the owner placed in us."
Price comparison:
Looking at BOATPro data with comparable yachts for sale, the nearest to the 78-metre (2885GT) Energy – built by Amels in 2022 and for sale with Burgess POA – is the 78-metre (2108GT) Amaryllis built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2011. Amaryllis is for sale, asking €89,000,000 with Burgess, Merle Wood & Associates and Moravia Yachting, Moravia Yachting having just sold the 86-metre (2050GT) B2, built by Abeking & Rasmussen in 2009, at an asking price of €79,000,000.
The 73-metre (2100GT) Planet Nine built by The Italian Sea Group in 2018 and for sale with Fraser, asking €85,000,000, is very different, as an explorer, but one to compare. Planet Nine was our brokerage boat of the month in May. Both the 74-metre (1906GT) Global, for sale with IYC at €79,000,000, and the 80-metre (2443GT) Elements, built by Yachtley in 2019 and listed with Camper & Nicholsons, asking €112,000,000, are comparable.
