Italian watchmaker Panerai has teamed up with German luxury engineering brand BRABUS to launch a new limited edition watch, the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240).
A product three years in the making, the design of the 47mm watch is inspired by the Shadow Black Ops range of dayboats by BRABUS – a sporty 11.73 metre vessel which can hit top speeds of 60 knots.
This marine-inspired styling translates into a number of design features on the watch, including the use of the signature gunmetal grey, black and crimson color palette of BRABUS’ Shadow Black Ops day boats.
The watch case is also made from the composite, carbon-fibre material Carbotech as a nod to both brands’ use of innovative materials in their products. BRABUS and Panerai logo branding has also been embossed across the timepiece.
The ideal watch for a yachtsman who loves being on the water, the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240) is also waterproof down to 300 metres below the surface and comes with a second Panerai Sportech strap that can be swapped in easily depending on the environment in which the watch is worn.
“When put side by side, the similarities in regard to design language and overall character of the Panerai Submersible and the BRABUS line of dayboats are obvious and striking. Both are made to be functional and stylish tools for life in the marine environment and therefore this combination just makes sense” commented Constantin Buschmann, CEO and owner of BRABUS.
Other details include a patented polarised date display, a unidirectional rotating bezel for the calculation of immersion time, GMT function, AM/PM indicator and a three-day power reserve.
The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240) is also the first timepiece by Panerai to feature a skeleton automatic caliber.
Speaking about the collaboration, Panerai CEO, Jean-Marc Pontroué commented: “When we speak about partnership, it’s not just about a logo, it extends to the highest levels and smallest details. We offer each other complementary skill sets and synergies in terms of products, sales and key markets. The ideas, materials and technologies of our brands will be a vehicle for developing concepts that are both disruptive and spectacular.”
Only 100 pieces of the limited edition watch will be released from February 2022, with an asking price of €45,000.
