About the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta

5 August 2019

The 2021 Mastercard Superyacht Regatta, the official superyacht regatta of the America's Cup period, will take place in Auckland from 23 – 27 February 2021, hosted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS). BOAT International are delighted to be working closely with the RNZYS as official media partner.

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) is New Zealand’s leading yacht club, with an illustrious history dating back to its formation in 1871. The RNZYS is also the official home of the America’s Cup after Emirates Team New Zealand, representing the RNZYS, won the oldest sporting trophy in the world at the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017.

In 2021 the RNZYS will celebrate 150 years of existence that will see a variety of regattas and events take place throughout the year, including the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta.

Held within days of the start of New Zealand's defence of the America’s Cup, you and your crew will be in the heart of the action. Superyachts will be berthed within the America's Cup village and surrounding marinas in the heart of the Viaduct harbour and races will be held in the picturesque and sometimes challenging, Hauraki Gulf.

Courses will include windward-leeward marks and outer harbour marks including islands and other navigation marks with one or two races each day, conditions permitting. The regatta will start with the race registration and welcome function on 23 February, and conclude on 27 February.

A morning Skipper’s briefing and daily happy hour (which all competitors are invited to attend) will be housed at the ‘Home of the America’s Cup’. The final prize-giving and end of regatta party will showcase kiwi cuisine and hospitality at it’s best, this will also be the opportunity to share stories, re-connect with old friends and make new ones, but most of all celebrate the end of a fantastic regatta and party the night away.
