The golf

Camiral Golf & Wellness is located just one hour’s drive from Barcelona Airport and is home to two notable courses: the highly regarded Stadium Course and its little sister, the Tour, both of which feature in Golf Digest's Top 10 Best Golf Courses in Spain.

The event, which takes place on the Stadium Course, is the perfect opportunity for like-minded professionals to compete in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. Individuals or teams of four are welcome with a minimum handicap of 26.

The history

The Stadium Course was the brainchild of two European Tour legends, Ángel Gallardo and Neil Coles MBE in 1999. Thanks to their combined experience, the course was an instant success and over the past 25 years, it has become one of golfing’s finest estates. It has been the venue for numerous PGA European Tour events including The Sarazen World Open and three Spanish Opens and is now favourite to host the Ryder Cup in 2031.

The course

With four par 3 holes and par 5 holes, Stadium is a well-balanced yet varied course that makes for a thrilling day out. Golfers who have played the 7,333 yards, par 72 course call it “exhilarating", “addictive” and “challenging” and "an experience you will remember for years to come".

With over 500 hectares of picturesque landscaped lawns wrapped by Mediterranean forest, the course is punctuated with narrow, undulating fairways, challenging bunkers and water hazards designed to chip away at your scorecard. The uncompromising ninth hole is the longest par 4 on the course at over 437 metres, while the signature 385-metre 13th hole is flanked by a testing lake while commanding spectacular views of the pine forests and the majestic Montseny Massif in the distance.

When to go

May is a perfect time to play before the heat of the summer: temperatures are a balmy 23°C (16 F), evenings are long and golden and the fairways are still lush and green. And even if the course leaves you defeated, it won’t leave you deflated and you will most certainly come away with a deep sense of satisfaction and knowledge that you have walked in the footsteps of hallowed golfing greats such as Thomas Bjørn and Miguel Ángel Jimenez.

The event

The Barcelona Golf Invitational takes place over two days. Guests are greeted by a Welcome Cocktail Reception followed by a full day of golf the day after, a prize-giving, barbecue and after-party around Hotel Camiral's five-star pool.
