Erik Vonk had the bold vision to turn a 46-metre fishing trawler into an expedition yacht. Famously hands-on, he decided to tackle the job himself even though he was not a designer or naval architect by trade. This ambitious undertaking was however not without its various construction challenges and complexities and the boat was sand-blasted right back to the bare hull and rebuilt from the inside out.
