THE AMALFI COAST
7
Wondering what's worth visiting on the Amalfi Coast? Captain Craig Macbeth of Freire's 112-metre superyacht Renaissance captures the fizz of La Dolce Vita with a spellbinding Italian charter itinerary, guiding you along Positano’s kaleidoscopic cliffsides and into Sorrento’s buzzing historic quarter...
THE ITINERARY
Naples
Meet 112-metre Renaissance in Naples, overlooked by the spectacular Castel dell’Ovo and Mount Vesuvius. As the crew welcome you on board, Renaissance will cruise 11 nautical miles west to Procida.
Tender in to explore the narrow streets and walk up to the fortified centre of Terra Murata, the highest point on the island.
Ischia
Having cruised nine nautical miles at sunset the previous evening, awake to a picture-perfect view of the island of Ischia, where plumes of bougainvillea cling to the houses that line the waterfront.
Renaissance will anchor before the village of Lacco Ameno, where the mushroom-shaped Fungo di Lacco Ameno rock guards the entrance to the bay. Explore the first Greek colony of Southern Italy before heading to the thermal wells of Negombo. In the evening, set course for Capri.
Capri
Awake in Capri, where wisteria-festooned buildings stand on soaring sea cliffs. Explore the glittering waters via the tenders or jet skis, paying a visit to Grotta Azzurra, famed for its iridescent colours.
Head to shore and stroll the Gardens of Augustus before dining on the catch of the day at La Fontelina, a beach club on the rocks with nautical striped parasols, and enjoying the island’s night-time charms.
Breakfast is served with a backdrop of pastel-coloured houses and lemon groves that cling to the cliffs and are best viewed from the sea
Amalfi
Following an early-morning cruise 18 nautical miles east, awake anchored off the town of Amalfi. Breakfast is served with a backdrop of pastel-coloured houses and lemon groves that cling to the cliffs and are best viewed from the sea.
Spend the day relaxing on board with a spa treatment or exploring Renaissance’s toy box. In the afternoon, tender to shore and visit the botanical gardens, which are considered among the most beautiful in the world.
Positano
After breakfast, Renaissance will leisurely cruise seven nautical miles west along the scenic Amalfi Coast and anchor at Positano. Head towards the kaleidoscopic cliffside and into the village, where refreshing cocktails await.
In the evening you can choose to dine on board or at a waterside Michelin-starred restaurant such as Li Galli with mesmerising views back towards the yacht.
Nerano
Awake eight nautical miles west at picturesque Nerano, famed for its traditional pasta and seafood. Explore the coastline by SUP and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters.
Lunch at the renowned Lo Scoglio da Tommasso before returning to Renaissance for a relaxing afternoon watching the sun dip behind the hillside. The yacht will then motor around the Punta Campanella cape to Sorrento.
Sorrento
Your final day on board will be spent at the historic town of Sorrento, which is perched on a plateau above the sea.
Awake to views of the vast expanse of Naples Bay, then head to the buzzing historic quarter, meander the cobbled streets and get your fix of pasta for lunch in a local restaurant.
Dinner this evening will be a celebration on board before a gentle cruise back to the historical city of Naples in the morning.
