Each week, we take a closer look at an outstanding superyacht for charter. This week, BOAT takes a closer look at the 58.6-metre Perini Navi sailing yacht, Perseus^3, the winner of the 2024 New Zealand Millennium Cup.
Crafted by Perini Navi, with design expertise from the renowned Ron Holland, Perseus^3 hit the water in 2015 with victory in her sights. As the second hull in Perini's 60-metre cruiser/racer series, she is packed with features that make her a standout, not only in competitive racing but also a coveted choice for those looking for an exciting charter.
The 60-metre sloop features an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre mast, which stands at 78 metres high and remains one of the tallest ever built. This amounts to a phenomenal 10,000 square metres of sails with one of the largest spinnakers on the planet thanks to her unusual bowsprit configuration. On board, things are wonderfully refined too, thanks to a new high-styled interior by Christian Liaigre.

Launched in 2015 and recently refitted in 2022, Perseus^3 is well-versed in the racing scene, yet equally comfortable for leisurely charters.
As guests board via the extra wide passerelle of this luxury yacht for charter, they'll immediately notice the generous deck space. Sun loungers are arranged on the aft deck, leading to a large U-shaped seating area sheltered by wraparound glass windows. The main social area is the flybridge, offering ample room for sunbathing, a heated pool and a barbeque. Below this area, there's storage for two custom tenders, each 6.3 metres long.
Her new Liaigre interiors are bright, modern, and awash with natural light. The main saloon features a white, dusty blue and grey colour scheme complemented by rich wood panelling and contemporary art.
The formal dining area is located forward of the main saloon on the starboard side, alongside a cosy seating area perfect for watching films or hosting a games night. Ideal for both friends and family charters, the interior features comfortable lounge spaces, a bar, and even an upright Steinway piano.
“Perseus^3 is for real sailing yacht enthusiasts and there isn’t really a better choice," says Edmiston's Rana Johnson. “Her performance-oriented features combined with her luxurious interiors designed by Christian Liaigre along with her stellar crew provide an unparalleled yachting experience.” Her carbon fibre bowsprit helped to create one of the largest downwind sail areas ever seen on a sloop, while state-of-the-art captive reel winches and furlers are fitted on board to handle the sailing system. Ultimately she is a thrilling sailing machine and a top choice for sailing enthusiasts.
Life on board Perseus^3

When not underway, her spacious decks shine with ample social areas on the flybridge, perfect for guests to enjoy cocktails after a busy day on the water. "Perseus^3’s long-term, highly professional crew includes a dive master, fishermen, kite surfers, marathon runners, divers, snorkelers, water-skier, masseuse and yoga instructors," Johnson adds.
