27 January 2025 • by Gabrielle Lazaridis

The International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) managing director, Jouko Huju, died on 21 January 2025 following an illness.

Huju's career in the maritime industry spanned several leadership roles at Finnboat, the national industry and trade association for the boating industry in Finland, and the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), before rising to the role of managing director at IFBSO.

Under the guidance of the Executive Committee, Jouko played a key role in the reorganisation of IFBSO, a 60-year-old organisation. His efforts resulted in several innovations, including a new operational structure, the establishment of a new legal entity and a new member information system.

"The loss of Jouko is a devastating blow to IFBSO," a statement from the organisation read. "He was a dear friend, a kind-hearted visionary and someone whose presence left a lasting impact in a remarkably short yet intense period. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends, and loved ones. He will be profoundly missed."
