Limassol Marina marks 10th anniversary with bold rebrand

18 December 2024 • Written by Hannah Rankine for Limassol Marina

Since opening in 2014, the award-winning Limassol Marina has flourished, with thousands of daily visitors and a vibrant community of berth holders, yacht crew and property residents. BOATdives into the latest updates at Limassol Marina and what they mean for Cyprus’ superyacht sector and the wider region.

Boasting 650 berths, 285 luxury seaside properties and a vibrant promenade lined with cafés and shops, Limassol Marina has established itself as a one-of-a-kind destination for yacht owners, crews, residents and the local community. Its residential offerings have seen remarkable success, with 96 per cent of properties sold - over 60 per cent occupied by year-round residents and the rest ready for immediate move-in. Now a premier yachting hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, the marina has catalysed exciting growth for the region’s yachting sector.

Cyprus made its debut in the superyacht industry with the opening of Limassol Marina, and has since proven its significant role in the Mediterranean yachting scene. The marina now welcomes over 1,000 visiting yachts annually, alongside its permanent berth holders, offering berths up to 115 metres in length and a dedicated superyacht anchorage for larger vessels. With its ability to serve multiple key functions, Limassol Marina has successfully attracted a growing number of both visiting and permanent superyachts. Its high occupancy rate is a clear indicator of success, suggesting a bright future for yachting on the island.

Owners and charterers are increasingly extending the central Mediterranean's cruising season by heading to Cyprus, where warm waters and a mild climate remain a draw well beyond traditional cruising destinations, from September through late November. For crew and management companies, Limassol offers the ideal stopover - a well-connected and convenient gateway to the Mediterranean from the East, just a day's sail away from the popular cruising grounds of Greece and Turkey.

Likewise, few coastal cities in Europe can match Limassol’s year-round vibrancy and range of adventure opportunities. Beyond the marina, the city is alive with activities, from casinos and golf courses to world-class hospitality amid its historic landmarks. The nearby mountain range adds even more to explore, making Limassol Marina the perfect base to discover Cyprus’ abundant leisure offerings.

The growing local technical services, dry-dock facilities and presence of major brands complement the marina's award-winning amenities, all located in the heart of the city's historic old town. This combination creates a crew experience that is hard to beat, so it is no wonder that Limassol Marina continues to attract superyachts year-round, with winter berth availability becoming increasingly scarce.

The superyacht industry loves an excuse to celebrate, and few places do it better than Limassol Marina. Marking a decade of accommodating luxury yachts, the marina is pulling out all the stops: a calendar packed with special events, enticing discounts on facilities and amenities, and a bold rebranding that redefines superyacht marina living.

When asked what life on the sea means, the Limassol Marina community shared how it transforms them. "Living on the sea changes us”, "it empowers us to let go and feel our best” and "the mind, body and soul are reset" were just some of the responses. The marina’s new visual identity, recently launched to mark its 10th anniversary, was inspired by these sentiments, aiming to visually capture the sense of renewal and vitality felt by those who call Limassol Marina home. This also aligned with the principles of Blue Health, an EU Horizon 2020 initiative linking outdoor water environments - known as Blue Spaces - with enhanced health and wellbeing.

The 10th-anniversary celebrations have featured a range of events aimed at uniting the community, from marina berth holders and residents to the local community and their families. Embracing the marina’s new identity, each gathering is designed to “transform the body, mind and soul”, highlighting Limassol Marina as a social hub and lifestyle destination for everyone.

Early highlights on the events calendar have included a mini music festival, the Marina Music Weekend, featuring the island's top live acts, as well as sunrise and sunset fitness classes at the marina's Sanctum Spa and Fitness. Other exciting events have included a Marina Treasure Hunt with a sunset cruise as the grand prize, a Paradox Family Bonding experience at the renowned Limassol Paradox Museum, and a Marina Hiking Trip along the stunning Cape Aspro trail, uncovering Cyprus' hidden gems. The renowned annual end-of-season crew party, along with cocktail parties for berth holders and residents, have offered a chance to celebrate in style and thank the community that now calls the marina home. Additionally, special discounts, activities and entertainment from the marina's bars, cafés, restaurants and retail outlets have ensured that all visitors get involved in the festivities.

Berth holders, yacht crew and residents of the marina’s properties benefit from an active programme of events throughout each year, providing plenty of opportunities to socialise within the community and enjoy all the marina has to offer.
