Sam Sorgiovanni reveals hydrogen-powered superyacht concept ZeRo

22 September 2021 • Written by Miranda Blazeby

A futuristic, hydrogen-powered superyacht concept named ZeRo has been revealed by designer Sam Sorgiovanni as the 2021 Monaco Yacht Show gets underway.

The design, which has a sustainable propulsion package at its core, features a futuristic exterior but “maintains a timeless elegance”, Sorgiovanni said. Elsewhere, the "streamlined" exterior features a “striking yet sleek” semi-planing hull form and a “restrained” superstructure.

The propulsion system meanwhile comprises hydrogen tanks and fuel cells and electric engines, combined with a battery storage system.

The result is a yacht capable of travelling at high speeds with a “zero-carbon impact” on the environment. Few other details, including the length of the design, have been revealed.

It comes after Feadship kicked off the show by unveiling an 81.75 metre superyacht concept named Pure.
