Turquoise Yachts appoints new CEO

13 May 2019

The chief executive and founder of Turquoise Yachts is to step down as part of a number of strategic changes at the yard.

Mehmet Karabeyoglu is to stand down as chief executive in July, passing the position over to Patrik von Sydow.

von Sydow joins the Turkish yard after managing a number of engineering companies specialising in automotive, commercial vessels and luxury yachts.

Karabeyoglu meanwhile will take a seat on the company’s board of directors where he will focus on the sales and marketing departments.

Turquoise Yachts launched its flagship, the 77m GO , last year

The former chief operating officer and chief technical officer of Dutch yard Oceanco Arie Van Andel will also join the board, sitting alongside current board member Dr Mohammed al Barwani.

“It is my absolute pleasure to welcome Patrik and Arie to our team,’’ Karabeyoglu said. “Both will be able to contribute greatly to the continuing growth and evolution of Turquoise Yachts.”

al Barwani added: “We trust this new structure will bring enhanced strength to Turquoise Yachts and we are convinced it will propel the company to the next level.”
