The third unit in the Amels 80 series, known as Project Zurich, has made a splash at Damen Yachting's facilities in Galati, Romania. She will now be transported to Vlissingen in the Netherlands for outfitting works ahead of her 2026 delivery.
The 80-metre was sold in March 2023 and enjoys a "number of spectacular unique features" that sets her apart from sisterships, according to the Dutch yard. Both the first and second hull in the Amels 80 series are in varying stages of construction.
The Amels 80 is the largest offering in the shipyard's popular Limited Editions range and was introduced to the market in March 2022, with the first hull sold six months later. Exterior design is the work of Espen Øino – who has worked with the shipyard on the Amels 60 series and the custom build Energy – while a "well-known" interior design team remains confidential.
Highlights of the 2,175GT superyacht include a 200-square-metre sundeck, a dedicated owner's deck, a 6.5-metre swimming pool and a foredeck helipad. Another area worth mentioning is the beach club, which serves as a fully-fledged waterfront lounge with opening sea terraces that create a semi-enclosed space with access to the spa, sauna, gym, Hammam and massage room. A circular social area takes centre stage with a sit-up bar and the space can also be converted into a cinema.
"Witnessing the third Amels 80 take to the water is an inspiring moment for the entire team," said project manager Sander Peeters. "We’re looking forward to her arrival in the Netherlands and advancing towards her delivery."
According to BOATPro, Damen Yachting has seven yachts on order or actively under construction. This announcement follows the delivery of the sixth Amels 60, 21.12, which is characterised by a "striking" blue hull.
