The Superyacht Charities Foundation has announced that £31,000 was raised as a result of its annual golf event in Palma De Mallorca. Held on 12 October, the event was organised by Derek Munro, founder of the Superyacht Charities Foundation.
The golfing event took place at the Golf Son Quint course in Palma De Mallorca. Two of the island's local charities received a share of the fundraising efforts, with funds divided between Yachting Gives Back and the Shambhala Fundación. Yachting Gives Back is a charity that is supported by superyacht industry donations to fight hunger and poverty throughout Mallorca. Meanwhile, The Shambhala Fundación helps vulnerable people on the island of Mallorca who face a lack of opportunities and education.
The outstanding balance of funds was allocated to the organisations 'Cash4Causes' initiative, a fund that works to bolster smaller, non-government-funded, and not-for-profit organisations, fostering their growth. This new initiative was launched in 2022 and enables the support of more causes.
The aim of Superyacht Charities is to promote and assist in the raising of funds for charities that the superyacht community participates and donates to, doing this through events, fundraising efforts, and donations. Various superyacht industry organisations sponsored this golfing event.
The next fundraising event on the Superyacht Charities schedule is the Superyacht Charities Ball to be held in Southampton on 16 March 2024.
